UCLA Role in the DIII-D Research Program

Photos above show the inside of DIII-D tokamak both during a vent with a scientist inside the vacuum vessel and during a plasma discharge with the edge tiles glowing due to plasma heating.

Below is one of the Groups diagnostic design showing (a) microwave probe beam and plasma, (b) large parabolic mirror designed and constructed by UCLA, and (c) the optical table holding the various microwave components.
